There is something special about waking up in the forest beside the Dryfork River: coffee in hand, a slow morning, and a whole day with nowhere you have to be. Brooklyn Heights Riverfront Campground has always been about that feeling. Now we are adding more comfort, more places to gather, and more reasons to come back.

With roughly 2,100 feet of rugged riverfront, islands, beaches, and wooded campsites, there is plenty to love before you even unpack. Our next chapter builds on that setting—with a welcoming Coffee Pavilion, a wood-fired sauna, new ways to stay, and bigger improvements planned for 2027 and 2028.

Whether you visited recently or have been away for a while, here is what you can enjoy now and what is taking shape for the future.

☕ A NEW FAVORITE GATHERING PLACE: THE COFFEE PAVILION

Our 12-by-28-foot Coffee Pavilion has become a year-round place to pause, warm up, and spend time together. Settle into the TV lounge, enjoy coffee, tea, or hot chocolate, and catch up with your camping companions. A pellet stove adds warmth on cooler days, and Starlink Wi-Fi near the pavilion and office cabin helps you connect when you need to.

It is a comfortable spot for a quiet morning cup, planning the day's adventures, or unwinding after exploring Tucker County. You can spend the afternoon beside the river and still have a cozy gathering place waiting nearby.

🔥 THE WOOD-FIRED SAUNA IS HERE

Our wood-fired sauna brings another way to slow down in the woods. Book a private group session and make it part of your getaway—a little time set aside to relax together. Firewood is included, and sauna reservations are available through our direct-booking website.

We are also looking ahead to communal sauna events. Those are still in the plans; we will share dates and booking details when they are ready.

🏕️ MORE WAYS TO MAKE CAMP YOUR OWN

Traveling with a group? RiverCamp Lodge is our new two-story, nine-bed private group rental, giving friends and families another way to stay together at camp. The lodge occupies the former RV5 location.

You can also choose from forest tent sites, riverfront group sites, primitive shelter cabins, furnished cabins with heat and air conditioning, the Bohemian Bus Retreat, the wood-stove tipi, and RV sites. Each has its own character, so choose the stay that fits your group's idea of a great weekend.

Current RV options include four electric sites (RV1–RV4) and five primitive sites (RV6–RV10). Check each listing for its current amenities and capacity before booking.

🌲 MORE ROOM FOR HAMMOCKS & SMALL TENTS

The B-sector expansion is designed for campers who love being tucked into the forest. The vision includes four hammock and small-tent sites—B4, B5, B6, and B7—with generous hammock areas, fire pits, benches, parking for two vehicles per site, and convenient turnaround access.

B5 and B7 are included in our current site and pricing information. B4 and B6 are part of the expansion plans and are not currently listed as available. Please use the direct-booking listings to see which sites are open for your dates and what each includes.

🚜 BETTER SITES, ROADS & ARRIVAL SPACES

Some of the biggest improvements are the practical ones you notice when you pull in and start setting up. Our improvement program includes grading for flatter tent sites and substantial gravel work on campground roads and parking areas.

The goal is a smoother arrival, easier parking and turnaround, and more comfortable places to set up camp. This work is part of our continuing investment in the campground; individual areas will improve as projects progress.

🚿 PLANNED FOR 2027: GUEST BATHROOMS & HOT SHOWERS

One of the biggest projects ahead is guest bathroom facilities with flush toilets and hot showers, planned for 2027. The proposed setup includes men's and women's 12-by-48-foot shower trailers, with up to seven hot showers, plus sinks and mirrors.

Supporting infrastructure plans include a commercial septic system and a new deep-water well. These are substantial projects that support the next stage of the campground's growth. We will share progress and opening details as the work moves forward.

For now, portable toilets serve the campground, and guest showers are not yet available. The existing shower behind the office cabin is a staff facility for caretakers and volunteers. Please plan your stay around the facilities currently listed for your accommodation.

🏝️ A PRIVATE FIRE ISLAND EXPERIENCE IN THE PLANS

We are developing the idea of a private Fire Island day-use rental for groups: an island gathering space with three fire pits, hammock-friendly areas, and places to enjoy the river together.

Picture a relaxed day with friends, a picnic, and time beside the water. Booking details and an opening date have not yet been announced. River access and activities will always depend on water levels, weather, and current campground rules.

⚡ COMING NEXT: MORE ELECTRIC SERVICE & A 2028 RV DUMP STATION

An RV dump station is planned for 2028, adding another convenience for our RV guests.

In the near future, we also plan to bring electric service to all currently primitive RV sites and all primitive cabins throughout camp.

These additions will create more options for future stays. They are planned improvements, so a site currently described as primitive should still be booked with that expectation. We will update the listings as new services become available.

🌲 THE SAME RIVERFRONT SPIRIT, WITH MORE TO ENJOY

All of this work comes back to a simple goal: make it easier to enjoy the place you came here for. A better campsite. A warm cup of coffee. A sauna session with friends. An evening by the fire, followed by the sound of the river as you settle in for the night.

To everyone who has stayed with us: thank you for being part of Brooklyn Heights. We love seeing familiar faces return, and we look forward to sharing the next chapter with you. If you have not visited yet, come find your own favorite corner of the forest.
